Regenerate is back with Mumbai’s Pier 2.0 Festival

8th November 2014, witnessed something Mumbai has never seen before, a deep house open air smack in the heart of the city with a view that is captured in our hearts for a long, long time. A beautiful success from start to end, By The Pier brought Regenerate to the forefront and it is definitely a great feeling to have a platform to share the music we love, with our audience. We couldn’t really wait any longer and before the summer heat hits us again we felt it was time for an encore!

Hello – By The Pier 2.0 we’ve been waiting for you. The team at Regenerate is back with the second edition of the property scheduled to take place on the 21st February 2015. This time around the audience will witness an all Regenerate line up showcasing their varied taste in house music with not one but two international headliners – A Guy Called Gerald & Whyt Noyz (Sci+Tec/ M-Nus) who will be playing at the pier and after party respectively.

Having expanded their roster Regenerate have firmed their position as an agency over and above doing various events & tours in the country. With a roster that includes the like of Qwiver / Blurry Slur (deep house moniker), Orbs&Zen, Kaleekarma, Troja, Chhab, Audio Glitch & Twokid Wickid; six out of the seven acts will showcase their talents in varied forms of deep house & techno on the 21st. The headliner at the pier is an iconic name in dance music, A Guy Called Gerald stands out for consistent innovation, excellence and refusal to compromise. A Guy Called Gerald kick started Europe’s acid house frenzy with his ’88 classic ‘Voodoo Ray’ and ‘Pacific State’ (as part of 808 State) and went on to lay down the blueprint for jungle / drum n bass.

Nine albums and 25 years of independence later, he continues to push the boundaries of electronic dance music touring worldwide bringing his “true school” flavour to a world overloaded with pop pap.

I have decided the only way to give music to the people is raw and straight from the true school. I don’t have to hide behind any trend or gimmicks. ie. analogue equipment and vinyl fetishism. I’m sorry to say but I still feel like I’m blazing the way forward only because everyone seems to be stuck in “retrogression” mode. Maybe they need a stop / start to get them out of the loop? I refuse to compromise when it comes to my sound. I realised that I’m the only real deal within dance music when I found it was impossible for me to sell out. Supporting A Guy Called Gerald are WHYT NOYZ (David Sidley and Duncan Murray), two lifelong friends who grew up sharing a passion for electronic music. In two years the duo have created a unique style that combines driving techno, live drums and innovative vocal samples to devastating effect. Early demos were picked up by none other than Richie Hawtin who quickly signed one of the tracks “Volcano” to his Minus12 label. “Volcano” was then released as part of Richie’s Mixmag “New Horizons” compilation. This laid a solid foundation for WHYT NOYZ and lead to further support from two of their biggest inspirations in the form of Pan-Pot and Dubfire. After meeting Dubfire in Ibiza, and being inspired by his set at Space, the guys went on to produce an E.P for him which will now see a full release on Dubfire’s label SCI 2+TEC in 2013.

They will be headlining the after party which is going to take place at Tijuana Iguana, Fort (the same after party venue as By The Pier – first edition)
Music being the basis of the foundation of Regenerate – By The Pier is positioned not just as a music event but an one day affair filled with music, food, art & a flea market. So even if you feel house isn’t for you hearing buds then you can come down to enjoy the scrumptious food, buy some hip goodies & take in the art for rejuvenating the visual senses (Although, the view is capable of doing that too.

So let’s spread the Regenerate love and get together to witness a bigger and better showcase of talent both local and international and bring back that one of a kind vibe witnessed in November.
