Ross From Friends to release new Giulia Tess EP

Following appearances on Future Bounce, More Time Records and Fever AM, Giulia Tess heads to Ross From Friends’ Scarlet Tiger imprint for her first release of 2021. Coming through with the hotly anticipated ‘200417’, which was teased by Jamz Supernova on her BBC 6 Music show last month, the single is out today, followed by the full EP on 20th August.

Italy-born, now London-based, Giulia first explored music through drumming before taking the decks of the local club scene in Bel Paese. These early percussive influences lend into her wide musical palette, drawing from jungle, dancehall and Southern Italian music to create her own fusion of broken techno and leftfield house.

The ‘200417’ EP is an excellent example of Giulia’s genre-pushing style, going from big peak-time euphoria on the titled track and ‘Hey’ to the dark, hypnotic wormhole ‘Mesto Ritma’ featuring fellow London-based musician ioieo. The label founder himself rounds off the release with a soaring remix of ‘200417’.

Moving to London in 2016, Giulia quickly found herself immersed in the rich music scene, collaborating with the likes of Femme Culture, Nervous Horizon and More Time Records as well as featuring on Nandos and Keep Hush’s “100% HEAT” mixtape. One of her tracks from the More Time Records release was included in Stella McCartney’s Winter 2020 Show in Paris. Alongside her production projects, Giulia is also a resident at Threads Radio and has contributed guest slots to BBC Radio 1xtra, BBC Asian Network, NTS, Balamii and Reprezent Radio.
