Sasha & John Digweed Announce First Joint Australian Tour in Eight Years

Four-hour sets, three warehouse venues and a single weekend in March 2027.

It has been eight years since Sasha & John Digweed last toured Australia together, and in March 2027 they return with a run of shows that plays to their strengths. Across one weekend, the pair will take four-hour sets to warehouse venues in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, a format that gives them the time and space to work the way they always have.

The weekend begins at Superordinary in Brisbane on Friday 5 March, continues at White Bay Power Station in Sydney on Saturday 6 March, and closes at The Timber Yard in Melbourne on Sunday 7 March. The Melbourne date falls on the Victorian Labour Day long weekend, so a Sunday night show comes without the pressure of an early start, and the close spacing of the three dates makes it realistic for travelling fans to catch more than one.

Choosing warehouses over clubs or festival sites lends each night its own atmosphere. In Sydney, White Bay Power Station brings a history of its own to the occasion. The former coal-fired station in Rozelle sat dormant for decades after it was decommissioned in the 1980s, before reopening as a cultural venue in 2023, and there is something fitting about hearing two artists shaped by the early rave era play inside a building of that scale and character.

The four-hour format matters just as much as the setting. Sasha & Digweed have never been DJs who rush, and their sets are at their best when allowed to unfold gradually, drifting through deep and melodic passages before settling into something more driving, all while reading what is happening on the floor. That kind of patience has become harder to find as headline bookings have shifted towards shorter festival slots, and it is a large part of why an extended set from the two of them continues to draw people in.

Their partnership reaches back to the early 1990s and the Renaissance club in Mansfield, where the two first met. Renaissance: The Mix Collection followed in 1994 and remains one of the most referenced mix compilations of its time, before Northern Exposure and its 1997 sequel on Ministry of Sound carried their sound, and the tours that accompanied it, across North America. By the end of the decade they had settled into a residency at Twilo in New York, and the years that followed brought Northern Exposure: Expeditions, the Communicate album and the Delta Heavy tour of the United States in 2002.

Alongside that shared history, both have built lasting careers on their own terms. Digweed has run Bedrock for more than a quarter of a century and still presents his long-running Transitions radio show, while Sasha has moved between the dancefloor and quieter territory, running Last Night On Earth and releasing Scene Delete, his 2016 collection of ambient and modern classical pieces for Late Night Tales. Each has returned to Australia regularly over the years, and the relationship with local audiences goes back a long way. Digweed’s 1998 Global Underground release took its name from Sydney, and for many Australian clubbers of that generation, those imported mix CDs were an early introduction to what progressive house could be.

Much has changed in the eight years since their last joint visit. A new generation has come through Australia’s clubs in that time, many of whom will be hearing the pair play together at length for the first time. For those who first found them through the Northern Exposure years, it is an opportunity to hear how a partnership now more than three decades old sounds today, with both artists still touring, releasing and shaping the music they play.

Tickets will be released through a presale, with sign-up now open for exclusive early access and the chance to win tickets to your nearest show. Once registration closes, presale access links will be sent by email on Tuesday 22 September, followed by a second email when the presale opens at 12pm local time on Wednesday 23 September. With only three dates on the calendar, signing up early is the surest way to secure a place.
