Seasoned Promoter and veteran of the scene – Paul Sawyer

Tech house stalwart Paul Sawyer has been a staple of the electronic music scene since the launch of his career in 1992; a year that saw him take Bournemouth by storm with riotous sets at The Manor, House of Windsor and Madisons. Over the past twenty years he has experienced huge success, not only as a DJ and producer but also as a promoter and label head: now managing the extensive Krafted Music group which counts Endemic Digital, EJ Underground, Bloxblox and Sounds of Juan amongst it’s collection of niche underground dance labels.

Throughout both his productions and DJ sets, Paul demonstrates a vast understanding of the finer nuances of house and techno. Repeatedly pointed to as a leading light within the UK’s house and techno scene, he has been cited by DJ magazine as one of the top ten resident DJ’s within the UK and tipped by Mixmag as one of their DJ’s to watch. As well as receiving airplay for his own productions on stations such as BBC Radio 1, Paul has demonstrated a huge overall passion for electronic music: using his influence to showcase the talents of both established and emerging dance artists through his various record labels, club nights and events.

Taking up a residency alongside Carl Cox in 1994 at superclub Eden Ibiza (then The Star Club), in his role as co-promoter, Paul was instrumental in bringing the Prodigy over to the island for an exclusive, one-off performance. Fuelled by a successful summer season on the Balearic Isle, he returned to the UK to launch the notorious and highly influential Menage A Trois: setting Southampton on fire with a series of infamous boat parties that saw the likes of Paul Oakenfold, John Digweed, Sasha, Dave Seaman, Danny Rampling, Carl Cox, Seb Fountaine and James Zabiela scramble to tear up the decks with an onslaught of fresh and exciting new dance tunes.

Having held slots at some of the UK’s biggest clubs, including Ministry of Sound, Cream, Bedrock and Passion, Paul has gone on to wield his slick mixing skills at numerous clubs and festivals across the globe. Pushing the sounds of deep tech house through his DJ sets – Paul favour’s the soulful vocals and smooth, stylish demeanour that defines the genre’s classic sound. Influenced by artists such as Dubfire, Richie Hawtin, Umek, Sven Vath and Maetrik, he has cultivated his own fresh and unparalleled style over the course of his many years within the industry.
