Juicebox Music bombs the way through with Sequ3l’s upcoming EP titled, ‘Timelapse’. The label’s 14th release has seen some of the best in the music business playing it out enthusiastically all across the world. One can see why the title track is an infectious, jagged morsel of old school music sensibilities and harps on woozy at times. Sometimes a stickily smooth riff that just goes on here and there right into and around the culling breakdown, cool as ice! It’s all honest as Sequ3l has fun with the submerged arrangement alongside a mellifluous vocal slither, therein which does well to playfully disorient the listener. Furthermore, there’s some serious elasticity to the groove!
On the B-side, ‘Still Moments In Everyday Life’ is a dubby affair from the on start. The dense texture and whirling interiors do well to stay together with each other to a nicety. It’s that meandering peak time offering that will see the test of time, no problem. The ethereal melodic quotient is fabulous to hear inserted deep down and robotic visage gets you clean to the dance floor. There’s a back stroke of tom toming continually going into a vacuously big bass line, and from there on it provides an even further drive to the finish. It’s the sound of someone who is coming of age with their talent, trying something that didn’t feel like formula quite yet. Or perhaps it’s just one of the most welcome releases of the year that I’m digging.
