On a fantastic musical roll, Manchester based producer Simone Marmellosi has got it all sorts of good with his second release on MUM (Manchester Underground Music) label. The straight forward simplicity of the imprint’s output is further heightened by Simone’s latest handiwork in the ‘’Lonely Way EP’’ release. The pack starts off with the Original Mix of the title tune. This no nonsense brand of underground Techno is one of the harder hitting around the bend sounds, crackles my ears with loads of authenticity, and has a quality which can easily put clubbers on the edge of their derrieres’. There’s a ferocious Vocal angle as well, that doesn’t come off as annoying. Frumping it up further are the clanging hat pummels in the midrange along with an unrelenting kick drum and all that comes to my head is what a freaky number this is. There’s a Trevor O’Neil Remix of ‘’Lonely Way’’ thrown in for good measure, whose handiwork thrives on cleaner corners of the drum pattern, and jumping off the wall clattering snares pan out over a chunky bass shine.
The second offering in the pack, ‘Attention’ gob smacks in a darker way, as it bends its way in to the psyche on the strength of its variation from the first track. It’s a floor burner with the whooshing heavy bass line and craftily arranged atmospheric feel in the interior. A perfect peak time sound as ever. The shiny breathlessness inherent inside the track manipulates the layered scales and affected Vocal, and drives the staccato beats and tempo nice enough. To a place where you throw your limbs around joyously.
