This brilliant new ‘Step Outside EP’ released on ‘Secret Room Records’ which launched in 2012 includes Skobers original and remix by label manager DEAS, a DJ and music producer based in Krakow, Poland. His label up to now has seen releases from artists Harvey McKay, Pig&Dan and Martin Eyerer with a string of his own releases on such labels as Baroque Records, Deeperfect, Proton, I Am Techno, Material Series and many more.
First up we have the original mix which from the very first beat you know means business. This is no holds barred 126bpm relentlessness from the word go and possesses all the right ingredients, groove, drive, tension, a looping vocal and euphoric break slamming straight back into his trademark deep driving groove you just can’t help moving to. This definitely has the stomp factor.
Next up is a very impressive quirkier take on the original which I thought would take some beating and it might have just done that. The multilayered sounds, looped vocal and dynamics mould together perfectly delivering a much funkier 125bpm alternative. If the original has the stomp factor this definitely delivers the dance factor.
In summary this is a solid release from a label I expect to see even more strong releases from in the future. Both offerings are dancefloor destroyers. It’s a tech-yes from me.
