This Autumn, from the 27th to the 30th October 2021, Sónar presents two new festivals for Barcelona, as well as expanding its activity year round. This year’s June edition will be postponed until 2022, and promises to be a one of a kind event.
For the first time in Barcelona, Sónar will organize the AI and Music festival, part of the S+T+ARTS program of the European Commission, focused on the integration of artificial intelligence and music creation.
The festival will run in parallel with an expanded, in-person edition of SónarCCCB, with more music and a number of stages dedicated to live performances, and the talks, workshops and demonstrations of Sónar+D.
Together, the festivals will feature over 60 activities, presented in hybrid format, mainly live and in-situ, but with an important digital and online component.
Sónar’s activity this year stretches far beyond these dates. From now until the end of the year, under the title #ThisIsSonar, Sónar will be collaborating with creative projects worldwide, including the European project On-The-Fly, led by Hangar, We Are Europe, Taller de Músics, Factory Berlin, PRSNT, In-Edit o IDEAL and the 5th edition of Sónar Istanbul which will take place on October 2nd 2021.
Sadly, due to force majeure, the edition of Sónar Barcelona planned for June has been postponed, and will now take place on 184.108.40.206. June 2022. The case numbers, mobility restrictions, and the lack of applicable legislation for the organization of large events has made the celebration of the festival in the conditions required unviable. First details of the line-up will be announced soon.
Ticket and delegate pass holders for 2020 and 2021 will be contacted by email on the 10th May, with all of the information on the benefits available to them for carrying over their ticket to 2022, as well as how to claim a refund, if they desire, from May 12th.
