Belgian imprint Sound Avenue returns with the fourth instalment of its Dimensions series, a various artists collection that lives up to its name. Founded in 2011 by DJ and producer Madloch, the label has spent well over a hundred releases blurring the boundaries between house and techno, building a reputation for quality, originality and carefully considered A&R. Dimensions 4 continues that tradition.
The premise is simple but evocative. Music, as the label frames it, is not merely an auditory experience; it is a multi-dimensional journey. With each track, each beat, each note, we travel through varying realms of emotions, time and experiences. Dimensions is a musical exploration of these varying landscapes, pushing boundaries and venturing into the depths of sound and emotion.
For its fourth edition, Sound Avenue has gathered ten artists who each bring their own reading of that brief. Listed in alphabetical order, the collection features Diego Schiller, Dj Meoz, Emegepe, Fiddler, Ion’s Flow, Lowki (SL), Nantiel, Outlandtale, RuKha and Toffk. The result is a compilation that drifts through melodic, deep and hypnotic territory, the kind of forward-thinking selection that has become the label’s calling card.
It makes for a fitting addition to a catalogue that has grown alongside subsidiaries 3rd Avenue and Crossfade Sounds, and that has welcomed names such as Eelke Kleijn, Charles Webster, Petar Dundov and Tim Engelhardt over the years. Dimensions 4 is out now via Sound Avenue.
