In celebration of Black History Month in the UK, SoundCloud is elevating the leading voices, artists and communities driving music culture in the UK and beyond. The month-long program features a series of artist-led content, including guest-curated playlists from some of today’s most exciting artists shaping the future of music, a new episode of SoundCloud’s The Journey with Afrobeats pioneer Juls, and a billboard campaign in cities across the UK promoting “Proud to Be”.
Each week throughout the month, SoundCloud will debut a new set of artists and their exclusive “Selected By” playlists on SoundCloud with introductory audio and a selection of curated tracks that highlight their favorite inspirational artists. Week one features globally recognized singer-songwriter Mahalia and genre-melding musician Master Peace, with playlists to come from viral sensations Young T & Bugsey and PinkPantheress, 70’s soul and 90’s R&B-inspired artist and producer Ruby Francis, fast-rising rapper and “First on SoundCloud” featured artist Pa Salieu, and more.
Alongside guest-curated playlists, SoundCloud is featuring a series of playlists celebrating Black artists at the forefront of influential music movements and communities like AFROSWING: UK Afrobeats & Fusion, STEP: UK Bassline, Grime & Garage, and UNITY: Black UK Dance Now.
British-Ghanaian music producer and Afrobeats pioneer Juls will be the featured guest on SoundCloud’s The Journey, a series showcasing industry executives of color breaking barriers on their paths to success.
