Here we see Stefan Z’s first original EP in over a year and it is out now on his very own label, Rhombus.

First up on the release is ‘Maths’ which is a percussive lead tech house number that cleverly uses a mathematical vocal sample throughout. I am pretty sure it is a full version of the sample used in Halo and Hipp-E’s track, ‘Future’. Pardon me if I am not correct here! The baseline is a great groove-based growling number that works so well with the percussion and keys used. Superb tech house vibe that takes me back to those West Coast US Vibes from the early 00s, and I just love the squelchy funk like acid in this track!

Next up is the track, ‘Not There’ which is a little like a Sci-Fi sounding tech house number. Again great percussion and superb use of delay on the hi-hats. Again the track has that funk sound but this time a little more on the electro vibe than the acid funk. The track has a great breakdown that builds into great ear piercing keys that would just sound epic on a dark and moody dance floor! Great release here from Stefan Z.
