Title: Sweet Break Up
Cat No: SB059
Release Date: Out Now!
Khen is a Tel Aviv based music producer that has certainly been creating the right waves in all things progressive. With releases on Plattenbank, Lowbit, Proton Music, Hope, and of course Sudbeat you could say he is releasing music on the finest labels out there. Amongst his fans are Nick Warren, Guy Mantzur, Guj J and Hernan Cattaneo. His return to Sudbeat sees this rather talented producer hit us with five very fine cuts of progressive joy.
The first track on the release is the title track, “Sweet Break Up”. This track is filled with a sublime uplifting and key changing melody that just moves you to the point of ecstasy. Trust me when I say this is a big record!
Next up is “Unexpected Landing” which is significantly different to the opening track. Khen has opted for a darker sounding edginess to this track, and one that I really did enjoy. The track has a chunky progressive groove to it and some really well placed effects and builds. Very nice work!
The third track on this rather impressive release is “Walking Into Myself” which sees Khen return to a more melodic journey style, and one that I do prefer. Khen has a great ability to create those dark pounding progressive drums and grooves, and overlay them with this wondrous and sublime warmth. Really do recommend this track for you prog lovers.
Next up we have “Another Way” which has an almost funky sound to it. The track is still filled with that warmth and depth that I love about this producers work. He makes good use of some reversed effects and I really do appreciate those subtle tribal like drums. Great work!
The final track on this release is “Anise” which is filled with divine melodies, and a simply awesome baseline. This is the kind of music I love to hear on a dark winters night, as it makes me feel like I am sat gazing into the summery sky whilst surrounded by a warmth and joy. What a track! The break is simple but effective and the lifts and drops just hit you in the heart. Sublime!
Again Mr Cattaneo’s label releases a fine piece of progressive heaven. Khen is certainly up there with the likes of this new age of producers that just encapsulate what progressive means to so many die hard fans. We have longed for this sound to return and here it is in abundance.
