Sound of a Dream is an intimate portrait of Lee Burridge, a DJ who has dedicated his life to the pursuit his dream: to bring people together through music. Told through cinematic storytelling, archival footage, and access to Leeโs inner world, the film tells the story of an Lee dedicated to his label, DJing, music and the community he has created over the course of a 40-year career. In that time, Lee has helped to define and evolve a global sound, shaping a generation of listeners.
From a small seaside village in the UK to the worldโs most celebrated stages, Leeโs journey is one of persistence, passion, connection and transformation. The film traces his rise from humble beginnings, from his first DJ set at his fatherโs village pub to legendary venues and festivals like Fabric London, Burning Man, and Coachella. Sound of a Dream invites the viewer into Leeโs colorful, ephemeral world, a world built on sound, movement, and fleeting moments. But Sound of a Dream looks beyond the dancefloor.
The touring DJ lifestyle isnโt for everyone, and Lee has had to leave people behind in pursuit of his dream. As the years pass, Lee begins to reflect on a life lived on the move, one defined by shifting spotlights, fading communities, and the toll of impermanence. The more he chases connection, the more alone he feels. In an effort to reconnect, he creates a heartfelt DJ mix, a new sonic language rooted in emotion, longing, and beauty. This new style of ethereal house music resonates globally, sparking ‘All Day I Dream’: a music festival, a record label, a global community, and ultimately, Leeโs legacy.
