The Red Telephone presents Daniele Baldelli, a pioneer of Cosmic Disco, arriving in Margate on 31 October for a rare appearance.
Bringing Daniele to Margate has been a long-held ambition for The Red Telephone’s DAMO and Kenny Wisdom. After several years of planning, they’re finally able to share an evening with this influential figure alongside fellow music lovers.
A trailblazer of the Italian underground, Daniele has built a devoted following through his distinctive approach โ blending slowed-down electronica, European disco and tribal rhythms in a way that has left a lasting mark on dance music. His sets are immersive explorations of groove and texture, drawing comparisons to New York luminaries such as Francis Grasso, David Mancuso and Nicky Siano.
Daniele’s journey began in Cattolica, Italy in 1969. At just 16, his passion for dancing and music led him into DJing full-time. His willingness to explore and combine different sounds quickly set him apart, and as his reputation grew, so did his curiosity. He pushed beyond conventional boundaries, drawing dancers from considerable distances who came specifically to experience his unique blend of styles. His approach to mixing and music selection has influenced countless DJs who followed.
With decades of experience behind him, Daniele brings a depth of knowledge that resonates with audiences of all backgrounds.
Opening the evening will be a back-to-back set from DAMO and Kenny Wisdom themselves. Originally from South London and now based in Margate, DAMO runs The Red Telephone club nights and hosts a radio programme of the same name on Margate Radio. His sets move fluidly between leftfield electronic, Italo, techno and beyond. He’s known for thoughtfully constructed playlists and a natural ability to read a room, focusing on the flow of sound and ensuring audiences are taken on a considered journey through music.
Kenny Wisdom brings over 30 years of experience to the decks. Also from South London, his career began with a foundation in soul, reggae, hip hop, electro and house. By the mid-90s, he was working in A&R and promotions for PIAS whilst running his own label, Pan, which released house music from notable artists including Armando, Felix the Housecat, Kevin Saunderson, Tyree Cooper, Roy Davis Jr, Mike Dunn, Cassio Ware and Ron Trent.
He was also a resident at London’s Blue Note, where he co-hosted a six-year residency with Dr Bob Jones alongside notable UK and international DJs. In 2004 he launched KM Editions, followed by two further labels, continuing to release original music with artists including Telephones, Skatebรฅrd, Lunar Concept and Les Crocodiles. Drawing from his broad musical background, expect a considered exploration of electro, house and soulful sounds.
An evening of Italo disco and cosmic grooves awaits โ a Halloween worth experiencing.
