Artist: Third Son

Since the conception of Third Son in 2015, he has made a hasty rise to the top that has astounded many. He has gone on to release on such labels as Selador, Sincopat and Ein Musika totaling 16 releases and gaining over 18 chart positions to add to his ever building legend. Featuring 4 tracks including a remix from Darlyn Vlys, Third Sons brand new EP ‘Climb To The Sun’ is out now on the mighty microCastle and is an EP that reflects his artistic capabilities and his musicality.

Title track ‘Climb To The Sun’ features smooth Indie style vocals layered on top of a huge progressive beat. A beautifully crafted Moog gives the track its depth and underlying drive with a modulating triplet grid grinding away with a gritty nature. Phased synths provide the mid frequencies and keep everything ticking over. Magnificently melodic and truly unique would be the best way to describe this track.

Darlyn’s remix takes things to another level. It is almost Indie Electronica but with that grinding 4 on the floor beat that gives the track its Deep House feel. The melodies are slightly different, meaning the overall feel is one, I suppose, happier in a way. This remix, which also has a dub version to contend with, is a great feel-good tune and would work especially well in an upbeat party atmosphere.

‘The Girl Reprise’ kicks off with some retro drum sounds and a warm, emotionally charged array of chords and synth lines. In comes the subtractive sounds of the Moog again with an incredible bassline which seriously adds another dimension to the emotional feel. Vocals shake around and add to the creative ambience. This is absolutely brilliant. We can all agree, this is one of the best progressive house releases we have heard in a while.
