Throw back Thursday – Richie Hawtin at 10 days off 2003

This week is my choice for our series of Throwback Thursdays sets and in line with the run up to the weekend. I thought about this for a while and decided to go with a set which I listened to quite a lot in the early noughties. Recorded live at Ghent 10 day festival, which still runs today, is to me is a perfect pre and post party vibe of grooving minimal goodness. His is an artist which I have followed since the late nineties and is currently one of the biggest powerhouses in the electronic music scene. He is of course Richie Hawtin.

The reason I have chosen this set, is for the most part, considered to be one of the most defining sets in what became the ‘Minimal’ revolution. Minimal had existed before and still does, but this really put it on the map as a genre, and turned it into a powerhouse after the turn of the millennium, thus becoming the main vibe been heard in infamous clubs and party mecca’s like DC10 and beyond.

The set contains some great labels like Playhouse along with boundary pushing artist like Ricardo Villalobos, Moodyman and Technasia to name but a few. So sit back grab a cool one and let your mind wonder where ever you maybe, to some lush hypnotic MNML music. Its a timeless set and a cult classic in my books. Hope you enjoy.
