TIP124 – d-phrag

D-Phrag is a Bulgarian DJ / Producer and music always has been an essential part of his life. As with every teenager of his generation, he enjoyed heavy metal and punk rock as well as many other music styles. His affection for electronic music dates back to 2002 and  musical taste  heavily influenced by the Global Underground series, The Essential Mix on BBC Radio One as well as John Digweed’s Kiss 100 radio show. The DJ’s that shaped his vision for the modern electronic music include Sander Kleineberg, Sasha, John Digweed, Paul Oakenfold and Dave Seaman…to name a few.

One day he decided to try some DJ software to make a mix with only the tracks he likes and that was the moment he fell in love with DJing. After a year of rather underground mixing, he was invited to do a guest mix as “Artist Of The Week” on friskyradio.com and that event eventually led to his own DJ show on the same radio station. The monthly show is called Immersed and is streamed every 4-th Friday of the month. Currently it has an average of 3500 listeners from all over the world and is one of the oldest and most respected shows on friskyradio. Besides that he has been invited as a guest DJ to nearly every major internet dance music radio station – TM Radio, Proton, AeroGrooves, ETN.FM, DI.FM, Pure.FM…

By 2008 d-phrag was co-hosting Immersed with his young colleague Plamen K. They also started a collaboration as a DJ duo, playing on various events in Bulgaria. The following year d-phrag has been invited by DJ Balthazar to play on one of the biggest events in Bulgaria, RENESANZ – featuring many big names in the electronic music.

2010/2011 marks the year  he travelled to Ukraine and Belarus, enjoying  a warm welcome and very positive feedback from the audience. In 2012 he joined forces with the talented Hungarian producer Napalm for collaboration on music production. In just 6 months their productions appeared on respected labels like Bonzai Progressive, System Recordings, Lost Language, Balkan Connection, Stripped Digital, Baires Recordings, Mistique Music, Spring Tube, Bequem Digital, Mirabilis Records, LUPS Records, OLD SQL Recordings and more. Their original productions and remixes have been supported by the biggest names in the progressive house genre.  Thier stand out  remix of Qoob – Australia  has been supported, played and charted by none other than Hernan Cattaneo.

Over the past decade d-phrag’s DJ style has evolved alot, but one thing remains the same – a passion for the music he loves through carefully selected tunes and an energetic mixture of sounds. His eclectic music preference has always been the key to his atmospheric club sets.
