The Virgin Suicides is both AIR’s second album and the evocative soundtrack to Sofia Coppola’s directorial debut. Originally released in 2000, the record was mixed on a digital console. For The Virgin Suicides Redux, a brand new analog mix from the original tapes was commissioned to the original mixer Stephane ‘Alf’ Briat. The new mix deepens and updates the haunting and beautiful soundscapes that have only grown in stature over the years, much like the cult classic film it accompanies.
The Virgin Suicides Redux will be available on September 26th on all streaming platforms along with a full analog Vinyl record and a 2-CD/Blu-Ray Digipack including the new analog mix, a spatial audio (Dolby Atmos) Blu-Ray of the album as well as a selection of previously unheard rarities and demos.
In 2001, The Virgin Suicides won a Victoire de la Musique award and was nominated the same year for a Brit Award in the Best Film Soundtrack category. In 2014, the album was ranked 11th among the best soundtracks of all time by NME, and in 2019 Pitchfork ranked it 4th in its list of the 50 best soundtracks of all time. In 2024, AIR performed “Playground Love” at the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics with Thomas Mars, lead singer of the band Phoenix, aka Gordon Tracks.

AIR are currently pursuing their widely acclaimed Air play Moon Safari Tour, gracing the stages of European summer festivals before heading back to North America next September. Among other highlights, the band recently played at Paris’ We Love Green festival where Charli XCX joined them on stage to perform Cherry Blossom Girl. They also just performed on the Acropolis in Athens in the stunning set up of the Herodes Atticus Theater!
September will see them play a one-of-a kind concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles with an orchestra before taking their lauded show across the US and Canada with dates in San Diego, San Francisco, and Chicago, among others, before concluding with a 3-night residency at the Brooklyn Paramount in New York.
