Tommy Vercetti is a name we all watched closely throughout 2016 and is a guy that left us in total awe with his incredible rise to stardom. Tommy’s superb ‘Blue Submarine’ EP which is out now on Darius Syrossian’s mega label, Do Not Sleep and features a remix from the label boss himself, demonstrates the young producers otherworldly ability when it comes to creating a record that will fill a dancefloor in seconds.
‘Blue Submarine’ gets things ticking with a seriously funky sway which is epitomised by a nice thick sine wave sub, which forms the groove in the low end, whilst the 4 on the floor drum grid gets us moving along nicely. A building vocal with the perfect amount of delay provides the element that keeps us wanting more. Tommy certainly knows what it takes to make us dance.
The man that needs no introduction, the one, and only Darius Syrossian delves in and delivers his slice of ‘Blue Submarine’ to tremendous effect. Darius’ remix has a more warehouse oriented feel to it with the huge punchy old school drums and a nice reverb surrounding. It’s hard to pick a favourite between the original and Darius’ remix, the are both fantastic records, full of incredible detail and energy!
‘Misch’ feels deep and delightful. Bright bells give off a nice glow and fill the room with a great shining aura. The track breaks into a super unique and strange feel which is made up by combining various parts into a massive progressive melody before building back into the swinging grooves that make Tommy’s music his own.
‘Where’s Ya Flute’ is layered up with an amazing array of sounds, from the chorus ridden mids to the catchy African vocals and rolling sub which slides between the low end and chunky percussion. This is another fine example of Tommy Vercetti’s artistry and leaves us feeling pure excitement for the year ahead and releases to come from this brilliant young producer.
