Nick Curly presents Trust
16th June 2016
Special Guest: Shonky
Swapping a maths degree for a pair of decks, Shonky admits at first he had no idea what to do with them. A dedicated clubber since his teens, his first real inception into the underground scene as a DJ came at the infamous Batofar after hours in Paris. It was here he discovered a passion for the sounds of 90’s San Francisco house being played by then resident Dan Ghenacia, and it was the start of a long-lasting friendship between the pair, along with fellow Parisian Dyed Soundorom.
In America, specifically NYC, Bill Patrick is a man of many accolades… Since his days as a DJ in legendary clubs such as The Limelight, Vinyl & Arc, he has charmed our hearts and moved our bodies. Not to mention being a co-founder of the famed Robots parties and amusing us weekly as Robot Radio’s alluring and witty host. Within the world of electronic music, everyone has a tale about our friend Bill Patrick. Some funny, some sad, some tragic, most shady, but at the end of each story or any encounter with this demigod you’re left wanting more.
Cuartero, a young producer born in Malaga (Spain), is characterised by a “groove and bass” style mixed with seductive vocal cuts. He began producing at the young age of 15, launching his first release in 2009. Ever since then, Cuartero has produced on labels such as VIVa MUSIC, Monique Speciale, Cr2, Kittball and Bla Bla… achieving great national and international acclaim with each release; from 2010, most of those tracks made it into the Beatport Top 100.
Exploring the deep and dubby areas between House and Techno, hailing from the northern powerhouse of UK electronic music, Leeds, Jack Wickham is notching up an increasingly prolific back catalogue of high quality, late-night tools and productions, with releases on respected labels such as Drumma, One Records, Fuse, Nordik Net, Tough Luck and many more in 2014/15, he delivers music that not only captures your attention but demands it.
Tobi Neumann was a late bloomer, but he made up for lost time in no time. The Munich native had a career producing commercial jingles and movie soundtracks, but a fateful trip to Berlin’s Love Parade at the age of 33 changed the course of his life forever; it was there, he says, that he “became infected by electronic music.” From thereon Tobi immersed himself in the scene, and his list of accolades swiftly grew: producer of seminal ‘electroclash’ artists Chicks on Speed and Miss Kittin, world-renowned house and techno DJ, and chart-topping remixer.
