Vanita releases ‘Ailurus’ on Desert Hearts Black

Vanita and Eleonora have teamed up for a dynamic double-sided single on Desert Hearts Black entitled, ‘Ailurus’, which is now available on digital shelves in the usual places. Anakim also makes his way back to the label fold, providing a heady remix to the A-side.

The Swiss producer’s penchant for hypnotic shades of house is on full display, with its pulsating title opener, complementing Eleonora’s vocals with reverberated bass, slow, chugging kicks, and a haunting breakdown. Subtle strings add a touch more emotion to the finished product. In keeping with these motifs, “In The Past” additionally places a large emphasis on its low end, adding, contrasting the lighter, twinkling synth work in the preceding track with bursts of full-bodied analog progressions while picking up the tempo for an energized finish. Anakim also maintains a higher tempo in his interpretation of “Airurus” in addition to beefing up the synth work, but ultimately maintains the integrity of the original.

‘Ailurus’ is the first release from Vanita on an American label, joining a bevvy of acclaimed works that include numerous releases on Katermukke, Einmusika, Variety, Heinz, and Natura VIVa, to name a few. Beyond her productive output, however, Vanita is most known by her DJing roots; she’s served as a Hive Club resident for the better part of a decade, has conquered clubs and festivals across Europe, and has recently expanded her reach to a global level with gigs in South America, Thailand, and Israel.
