3 RGB (Radio Edit)
‘RGB EP’ will be released on July 24th 2017 on Favouritizm.
The mighty umami join the Favouritizm stable with a stunning new EP where inside they reveal the first fruit of their forthcoming ‘In Exchange For Everything’ album with the magical title track ‘RGB’. Spellbinding melodies, sophisticated electronica and a dash of that special umami idiosyncrasy, all underpinned by a bewitching dubby groove are the ingredients of ‘RGB’s enchanting vibe. umami then get down to big room business on’Detail’, creating a tension filled techy romp, armed with an unhinged bass that growls through a suasive tapestry of synth washes and vocal loops, before giving way to an epic twisted key solo on the breakdown. ‘RGB’ also comes with it’s own video, directed by André Spilker (Morphium Film) and filmed in the Baltic coast where Robert and Sam spent the day braving the chilly waves for the sake of creating some very beautiful art.
“We are very proud of RGB because of its main harmonies – we feel they are something truly magical. The fact that we created them together, in a kind of frenzy of taking turns clicking in midi notes, and that they wouldn’t exist hadn’t we worked on them together in that moment, makes them even more special to us. A unique melody or harmony has always been the most fascinating thing in music for us and we feel ‘RGB’ ticks all the boxes.” – umami
umami, aka Robert and Sam, first met in a little basement studio in a village not far from the coast of the German Baltic Sea. At that time they played in different jazz, rock and electronic bands. They started producing and releasing together in 2010 with various EPs on Burlesque Musique – The Split-EP ‘I Come To Hanaetano’ together with Niconé, ‘Conquer The Night’ and ‘We Don’t Need Words’ and have gone on to create a very distinctive sound that joins the dots somewhere between Techno and Indie with something magical and slightly crazy in their Baltic blood that makes them so unique. umami pen songs that dedicate themselves to the repetitiveness and intensity of electronic dance music and still fly with the emotion of real composing.
Their releases have step by step conquered dance floors around the globe with productions and remixes featuring on top labels including Katermukke, 3000 Grad, Budenzauber, Sacrebleu, Boys Deep and many more. Their Rene Bourgeois ‘At Night’ remix was played in heavy rotation by Monika Kruse, andhim and many others and they also commandeered the Beatport Deep House chart No.1 for several weeks with their awesome rendition of the classic ‘Sunny’. Aside of setting time aside for studio creations, umami are constantly holding down a busy tour schedule, performing all over the world including Mexico, USA, Israel, Ukraine, France, Netherlands, Italy, Ethiopia and many more. Their unique charisma, charm and innovation have won them fans all over the globe as they perform their own songs and play electrical percussion live on stage, creating something truly special. 2017 sets to be an exciting year for the duo as they put the finishing touches to their album and a remix for Beatamines & Jiggler on Lauter Unfug.
