Daphni aka Caribou (Jiaolong)
DJ Koze (Pampa Records)
plus We Concur and Avant Garde residents
Two of London’s most forward thinking promoters join forces once more on New Year’s Day for a truly sublime lineup at Southwark’s Bankside Vaults. We Concur and Avant Garde bring you 3 superstar headliners in the form of Innervisions man and twice voted RA’s best DJ in the world, Dixon, the one and only Pampa boss DJ Koze and acclaimed electronica artist Daphni aka Caribou.
The rarely used central London former train depot The Bankside Vaults is our home for the occasion, with two rooms holding over 2000 people, a finely tuned Void sound system and start-of-the-art 3D mapping throughout the space. With its double-height arches and ultra-central location next to the River Thames and minutes from London Bridge, it’s tailor made for the expanse of sound being brought to London on January 1st.
In a short space of time We Concur have hosted a ridiculous array of talent including Nina Kraviz, Michael Mayer, Mano Le Tough, Alan Fitzpatrick and many more. Avant Garde’s most recent guest was the legendary Trentemoller for his only UK show of 2015, with previous artists such as Apparat, Guy Gerber, Pional and Thugfucker gracing their events. The range of acts booked by the two party-starters demonstrates their shared musical appreciations; it is this that has spawned this absolute monster of a NYD lineup.
The rise of the highly acclaimed Innervisions imprint over recent years has been meteoric and Dixon has been at the very heart of this. Both respected and revered by his peers, his forward-thinking sets are expertly crafted and he delivers at the highest level time and time again. His recent re-works for such artists as Howling, The XX and Mathew Jonson show his versatility as a producer, and his performances at a huge span of venues, from lofts to world-leading festivals, underline his status as our (and RA’s) number one.
Caribou is a name that has been in-escapable over the last couple years and at the helm of this highly successful project is Dan Snaith, aka Daphni. Under this guise we have been presented with his more underground productions, all with his trademark experimental touch. His 2012 album Jiaolong received much deserved praise, showing his ability to create something completely unique. There are few electronic artists with his breadth of talents, and it’s a mouth-watering prospect when he is performing an extended set on the night.
Completely the trio is the ever popular electronic connoisseur, DJ Koze, the veteran German surrealist producer whose recent DJ Kicks mix and remixes collection album were both standouts in their field. Having released on some of the most respected labels including Kompakt, Freude Am Tanzen and his own imprint Pampa Records, he has an incredible knack of producing records that are both timeless and heart-achingly good. A DJ in every sense, it’s a wondrous thing seeing this man perform and he too will be performing an extended set on this special occasion.
Doors for this run from 9pm until midday on January 2nd and tickets are on sale now. Do not sleep, as they will sell out ahead of time!
