Wehbba’s Turning Point EP is knee deep in class

Since showing himself in 2006, there has been a steady back catalogue building along with a formidable run of collaborations for the man from Sao Paulo. Here we have his next outing on Knee Deep In Sound and his Turning Point EP.

Opening things up with the EP title track, Wehbba sets the tone early on with some nice clean percussion. This one has something to it, there’s a vibe here that almost feels locked to the percussion but it’s the movement of that synth that comes in and out is where it is at for me. That big saw bass sound that runs throughout is a nice touch. It’ll be a nice workout for some speakers.

Things come to you with a very different vibe on the second track, ‘The Bridge’. The first synth gets it’s hooks into you straight away. An unmissable sound that will be picked up on nice and early during a mix on many a dancefloor. As a track goes, there is some spot on evolution on this. I’ll be playing this one a bunch over the coming months.

For what you could call the second half of the release, we have remixes of ‘Turning Point’ and ‘The Bridge’ by Anna and by Huxley.

The Anna remix of ‘Turning Point’ keeps hold of that synth movement of the original but has a darker vibe to it. This is most definitely a good thing. There is a moodiness to this one that will go down a storm.

To close things out, we have the Huxley remix of ‘The Bridge’. Huxley made this his own and raised it up from the tone and mood of the original. There’s a bit a swing to this and the percussive elements really gel together. A strong remix right here!!!

Having had a few listens now and a bit of a mix too, I can see tracks from this popping up in DJ sets all over the place this summer. A solid EP, what more can we say?!
