Check out this zero impact temporary alpine hut

It might sound hyperbolic to say, but everything in this world is temporary — even the mountains. But we should also consider it our responsibility to respect and protect our natural spaces as much as we can. And we can’t help thinking that was a part of the thought process when the folks at On decided to build their zero-impact Mountain Hut.

Tucked away high in the Swiss Alps, this beautiful duplex sits on a mountainside at an altitude of 8,200 feet above sea level with views of the Engadin Valley below from both the living room and bedroom. And while the structure itself is temporary and was made to leave behind no waste once it’s deconstructed, it still features a wealth of modern, eco-conscious amenities that include solar panels for electricity and a rainwater filter. There’s no denying that the Mountain Hut makes for a superb off-grid getaway, but the romance in just how temporary the structure actually is — with its deconstruction slated for September — makes the prospect of staying there all the more enticing.
