Review by Ian French

The Manual stable welcome Dustin Nantais on board for his first full release with the Dark Corner EP. The Toronto based producer has already released a fine remix of Fatso on the label a few months back, which was also well received here at This Is Progressive.

The EP kicks things off with “Beginnings” which really is very apt name for your first track on your first EP released on Manual Music. It is a subtle and warm deep house track that really does take you on a journey of warm beautiful melodies. When I say deep house I mean good deep house! The track kicks off with a subtle melodic intro that warms into some base stabs before the track sparks into life with a subtle kick and warm percussion. The track builds nicely throughout with clever key changes and idyllic melodies. Superb deep number that will grace the music collection of many deep house and progressive DJs this year.

Next up we have the title track “Dark Corner” which is bit more rough and rugged than the opening track but it still captivates you with more dreamy melodies. Cleverly arranged, this song slowly but surely reaches peak time dance floor euphoria as soon as the final break kicks in. A track you must own if you like your progressive gems!

A great debut EP by Dustin Nantais on Manual Music. I hope there is more to come of this quality. You have my attention Mr Nantais!
