Review by Ian French

Having launched this Mini-LP format to give exceptional young artists a platform to express themselves perfectly (with Navar’s totally enthralling FOUND 01), Lost & Found label boss Guy J has now given Argentina’s rising star, Juan Deminicis, the next opportunity to shine through his five stunning creations.

Juan began creating electronic music in 2005, at 15 years of age, influenced by the exceptional local DJ talent on display every week in Argentinian clubs. Although Hernan Cattaneo remains the country’s best-known global star, the likes of Martin García, Guille Quero, Deep Mariano, Big Fabio and others are highly regarded. Argentina is most definitely one of the key creative and most vibrant places right now, and listening to “FOUND02” is a perfect snapshot of one of South America’s most exciting emerging new talents.

First up on this mini LP is “Avalon”. The track contains some superb percussion that is very well placed. The track almost has a tribal house sound to it with some great cymbal rides that help keep the pace. The baseline in this track is one you will remember and adds a lovely deep sound to the whole track. All of the previous leads in to a superb break with a beautiful melody that teases you into the kick. Great opening track that will grab the attention of many a DJ and dance floor.

Next up is “Vulcan Pigs” which is a four to the floor tech house track. This Mihai Poppoviciu and you won’t be far off the mark. The track contains spoken words that are effected and executed nicely. Not my favourite track on the album but is great warm up material.

The third track here is “TIme” which is a percussive based progressive house track with a superb low end. This track would certainly not be a miss in an early night Digweed set and i could certainly see the likes of Maceo Plex dropping this due to is Funky yet dark baseline.

“Feel” is certainly the track that picks up the pace a little. Lovely funky progressive number that would wake any dance floor into a little shimmy. Clever stabs and melody that just work so well. Good work Juan!

The final track on this incredible LP is “Bedroom Riddles”. I’m intrigued how the name came about and maybe that is a question for a future interview maybe! This track is a full on baseline hungry progressive monster that I am sure Digweed dropped at Gorilla in early May! Put it this way this track instantly made me want to get off my chair and throw a few shapes. Superb moody prog number here that I recommend to any progressive DJ or listener.

FOUND02 is a stunning body of work that will, no doubt, put Juan Deminicis firmly on everyone’s radar as a future star in the making.
