After a great release on Guy J’s label Lost & Found, the talented Argentinian Juan Deminicis joins Costa Rican imprint, Moonchild Records to release his excellent Strange EP. The remix duties are ably taken care of by TIP favourite, Dale Middleton and Moonchild label managers Javier Portila & Sotela.
Never one to over do it, Juan’s original mix is a dark, mood setting gem that deftly manoeuvres between darkness and light. Overtones of the growling bass line meet the sweet soft vocals and a warm subtle pad, creating a sonic tapestry which crosses genres and oozes class.
Dale Middleton, having released on Parquet Records, SexOnWax, Systematic and Perspectives Digital, delights here with a similarly dark tribal affair. Add to that an understated acid line and you have yourself a banger! Dale also manages to incorporate some nuanced vocal washes and sweeps which only add to the quality of this track. With a flourishing career ahead of him, this skilled Brit can already boast the likes of Sasha, Digweed, Agoria and Guy J amongst his fans.
Moonchild label managers Javier Portilla & Sotela close out this package by beefing things up with a hefty swagger. From the opening beat less intro, you know this is a remix worth your time, the bass line is front and centre and drives the beginning portion of the track very ably. As they begin to introduce the various synth elements the energy is ramped up and you get a vivid picture of an excited dance floor grooving along. They keep the vocal for a well executed breakdown around the 3.30 minute point before we are straight back into it 8 bars later with the introduction of a further side chained pad line.
A well rounded package that will appeal to a cross section of music fans. Miss this at your peril.
