The always on point Exploited label is back with another floor filling scene defining release, this time from Mathias Modica aka Munk, who is the powerhouse behind top disco label Gomma. For this project he teamed up with Lizzie Paige from New York and Mona Lazette from London to come up with what is a great single and one that precedes a full album.
In original form the single, Southern Moon, is a buoyant bit of house with big bass stabs, hip swinging percussion and glowing neo soul vocal up top. Its pure vibes from start to finish and gets a multitude of remixes. HNNY goes for a playful cut and paste style remix that bounces about in all directions, whilst Darius Syrossian turns in two remakes. The first is a turbo charged, US house leaning version with killer DJ Sneak like drums, whilst the second is much the same but it leaves the original vocal firmly in place. This is a fantastic package of authentic house and disco sounds that you really do need in your life.
