Artist: Tom Hades
Title: Sparkles EP
Release Date: 03/11/2014
You can tell from the musical packaging alone that things are hip, hot and Techno heavy at Pig & Dan’s label, Elevate. Put Belgian floor destroyer Tom Hades into the equation and then you’re left with tectonic plate shifting, main room mayhem. On the right side of fantastic, Hades gives us “Sparkles”, the first track shows us the vastness of his talent, and that straight, simple beats can still produce a cavernous humdinger, no problem. The winding sliding melody line accompanies the shimmering bass, synthy percussives with full hoity toity attitude. The tune never swells too much, yet there’s a hurry to get somewhere, and that somewhere is to get dancing on the floor.
The second offering “Theory” on the other hand quickly steals my heart, with it’s manic, pulsing melodic centre and a warm flush gets hold of you as the main red hot riff tops up the gorgeous bass filled interior. Long standing fans of Tom Hades should be delighted with this latest outing from Belgium’s finest. To get down to basics, one is left with a quality Techno EP, one that will be remembered and furthermore, one which you can joyously dance to.
