It is that time of year once again, where the sun joins us and comes out to play; it is of course, festival season across the Northern Hemisphere. Our team has devised between us, the top 80 raves from around the world that we have been to, heading to this year or just dream of being there The list is no way definitive and we couldn’t fit in every event we wanted to in this article, which is why we have created a new festival section on our site, which you can view the latest line ups, news, mixes, videos and of course, how to buy tickets. It will be updated daily from the large scale global festivals to the small underground events held each weekend, the choice is yours!

2. A STATE OF TRANCE (ASOT): NETHERLANDS
Armin van Buuren has once again proven that making a live radio show is something very extraordinary! Especially with ASOT fans from all across the globe, gathering at the Beatrixgebouw in Utrecht, dancing between objects and stories of historical space journeys.
The ‘A Human Adventure’ exhibition provided the ultimate ASOT feeling for the new theme ‘New Horizons’. You could say the Space Cadets deserve a spot amongst the other space trophies, for bringing the ASOT events to earth yet again
3. AWAKENINGS: NETHERLANDS
Reading the lineup for Awakenings, the long-running Dutch festival, is a bit like scouring an A-to-Z list of who’s making it happen in techno right now. Of course, you’ve got the big names who dominate events on this scale. But this year the promoters are also bringing a deeper element to their sprawling event at Spaarnwoude. From the old school to the new , from Berghain torchbearers to peddlers of a beat all their own. Awakenings almost certainly has something that’ll scratch your itch.
4. BENICASSIM: SPAIN
Benicassim Festival 2014 or Festival Internacional de Benicàssim ( FIB 2014) as it is known in Spain is a 4 day music festival taking place in Benicassim on the east coast of Spain between Valencia and Barcelona. Benicassim 2014 takes place on the weekend of 17th July to 20th July 2014.
5. Berghain/Panorama Bar: GERMANY
Sitting in a dusty lot on the border of Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain, Berghain is widely considered one of the world’s best nightclubs. It has two dance floors: Berghain, a dark main room where most DJs play techno, and Panorama Bar, an upstairs space that’s more focused on house, though the music policy in both rooms is very open-ended.
6. BESTIVAL: UK
Bestival is an award winning 4 day boutique music festival set at Robin Hill – a beautiful leafy country park (a veritable Garden of Eden!) near Downend and Newport in the heart of the Isle of Wight. The wonderful world of Bestival was born out of ten fun years of pioneering music events and record releases from Rob da Bank’s Sunday Best empire. The BBC Radio 1 leftfield DJ had a dream to one day create his vision of how the modern day festival should be. Along with Creative Director and wife Josie da Bank and co founders / partners John and Ziggy from Get Involved that dream is now fulfilled. On a mission to change the face of independent festival culture, the fearless foursome are bringing some magic to the shores of the Solent and spreading the love worldwide.
7. EXCHANGE L.A: USA
After nearly two years of careful renovations and retrofitting, Exchange LA opened. This historic building once again has come to life. The venue pays homage to its rich and opulent Art Deco past, spanning 25,000 square feet and four floors. Exchange LA is a vibrant venue that functions not only as a nightclub, but also as an event venue for private parties, corporate events, live entertainment, filming location, and fashion shows.
8. THE BPM FESTIVAL MEXICO: USA
The BPM Festival is an annual ten day and night electronic music festival, founded by Craig Pettigrew and Philip Pulitano, held in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. This global gathering of DJs, producers, revelers and industry professionals has become a must for any music lover with a discerning taste for quality electronic dance music. BPM parties are hosted both day and night at multiple venues in Playa Del Carmen, a picturesque beach town that runs along miles of soft white sand beaches and sparkling turquoise waters on the Mayan Riviera. The town offers a variety of luxurious and affordable boutique hotels and condos, and endless options for dining and tourism, including: ancient Mayan ruins, cenotes, aquatic sports and eco tourism. 2013 will be its 6th year.
9. BURNING MAN: USA
Burning Man is an annual event and a thriving year-round culture. The event takes place the week leading up to and including Labor Day, in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert. The Burning Man organization (Black Rock City LLC) creates the infrastructure of Black Rock City, wherein attendees (or “participants”) dedicate themselves to the spirit of community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance. They depart one week later, leaving no trace. As simple as this may seem, trying to explain what Burning Man is to someone who has never been to the event is a bit like trying to explain what a particular color looks like to someone who is blind. In this section you will find the peripheral definitions of what the event is as a whole, but to truly understand this event, one must participate.
10. BUGGED OUT WEEKENDER: UK
In 2014 Bugged Out reached their 20th anniversary. Across the year we will be marking this significant milestone, starting with what has become our flagship event: the Bugged Out Weekender. And where better to kick off the birthday celebrations than the place where it all began in the North of England. After two hugely successful events in 2012 and 2013, the 2014 Bugged Out Weekender will take place on the new dates of March 7, 8, 9 at a new location; the Pontins resort in Southport. The multi-roomed event will again feature world renowned DJs and live acts, accommodation on site and pool parties and day time activities. Come as you are.
